WE ARE A SMALL AND SIMPLE, YET A UNIQUE AND CHARACTERFUL DEVON COUNTRY PUB.  'A PROPER JOB PUB' AS IT'S KNOWN AROUND THESE PARTS.  WE'RE A BIT OFF THE BEATEN TRACK BUT 'FOUND OUT OVER', AND WHAT YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND HERE IS  A WARM WELCOME, WITH HEARTY BANTER AND LAUGHTER GUARANTEED.

THIS HIDDEN GEM OFFERS GOOD LOCAL ALES, WHICH INCLUDE TEIGNWORTHY, SKINNERS, SHARPS AND BLACKAWTON. THE DINING ROOM IS KEPT BUSY WITH A GOOD RANGE OF TRADITIONAL PUB FOOD.  OUR MEAT IS SUPPLIED BY A LOCAL BUTCHER AND OUR FISH IS DELIVERED FRESH FROM ST. IVES, SO LOCAL WATERS. AND IF YOU'VE ROOM FOR A FINAL BITE, THEN CLAIRE'S HOME MADE DESSERTS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, OR ALTERNATIVELY SOME LOCAL DARTMOOR ICE-CREAM.

We recommend you to book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. This is particularly necessary at weekends, when the bar and dining room become very busy.  Our telephone number is 01837 82789. Food is served every evening (except Thursdays) between 7pm and 9.30 pm. We offer a good choice menu, and a daily specials board. There's also a bar snack menu available at lunchtimes.

COVID 19 UPDATE

   Dear Friends and Customers,

On the 20th of March 2020 The Railway had to close when our Government announced an  enforced closure of Public Houses and all of the hospitality industry, to try and stop the spread of Covid 19.  Then, as we all know, was shortly followed the lock down.

We have been kept busy with maintenance and the general up keep ready for a reopening.   Unfortunately we will be unable to reopen on the 4th of July.  This is down mainly to  the lay out  of

The Railway to social distance.   We cannot be Covid Safe.  We are working to find a way to be safe for customers, staff and our selves and families.   After nearly 32 years of running The Railway Inn,we will hopefully be opening our door and welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

We are, as many of you will be aware, probably showing extra cautions because of our own family circumstances.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see all our customers very soon.

    Wishing everyone well,

     Bert and Claire

Stay Alert!    Stay Safe!        See  you Soon!
